CARES Aviation Child Restraint

28 November 2013

A great alternative to travelling with a car seat, CARES is the award-winning aviation restraint designed specifically for children to be used while flying in an aircraft. When traveling overseas from Australia, it sometimes get difficult to travel with a car seat. Aside from being frustrating to carry, using car seats on planes can become confusing when international safety standards don't meet. For example, Australian car seats may not be used on certain overseas airlines as they don't match the local standards and likewise, car seats from other countries may not be used on Australian flights. This is where the Cares Aviation Harness makes traveling with children on any airline simple and most importantly, safe.

This harness is suitable for children aged between 1 to 5 years old that weigh between 10 to 20 kgs and that are up to approx 102cm tall.
CARES Aviation Harness weighs only 500 grams and comes with its own 15 cm carry bags, best of all it's so simple to install and has its oven instruction DVD. It is the only Aviation Authority Approved alternative to a car seat when flying with young children.

Below are extracts taken from Airline websites in 2013 that operate throughout Australia & New Zealand and refer to the used of the Cares Aviation Harness (These are extract only, to view full details please view full policy on airline websites).

QANTAS
The safest way for an infant or small child to travel on an aircraft is in a Child Restraint Device such as a car seat. Infants are allowed to be carried on your lap however research has demonstrated it does not provide the protection of a child seat. A car seat must be pre-approved for use as a child seat at least 24 hours before departure. Approval of car seats cannot be obtained on departure at the airport. You must buy a seat on the plane to ensure the use of a pre-approved car seat or CARES restraint device. To buy a seat on an aircraft for your infant and get pre-approval for the use of a child seat, contact your local Qantas Office. The Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES) is a pre-approved alternative to car seats on an aircraft. This harness style restraint device is suitable for children aged two to four years, weighing 10-20kg (22-44lb).
