With Australia at level 3 lockdown due to the Covid-19 Virus. The following good hygiene recommendations have been made by the Australian government to help slow down the spread of Covid-19.
When you practice good hygiene you:
- cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
- put used tissues straight into the bin
- wash your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
- use alcohol-based hand sanitisers
- avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- clean and disinfect frequently used surfaces such as benchtops, desks, and doorknobs
- clean and disinfect frequently used objects such as mobile phones, keys, wallets and work passes
- increase the amount of fresh air available by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning
It is recommended that you carry some hand sanitiser with you and use it whenever you want to decontaminate your hands, for example, after using public transport or visiting a supermarket.
An alcohol-based hand rub (hand sanitiser) is a good way to clean your hands if you don’t have access to soap and water. Hand sanitiser is only effective if your hands have no visible dirt on them.
To use hand sanitiser:
Put about half a teaspoon of the product in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, covering all the surfaces of your hand, including between your fingers.
Keep rubbing until your hands are dry (about 20 to 30 seconds).
